I was worried that nobody was going to support me or that others were going to think my idea (and ultimately passion for something) was stupid. I overcame this by closing my eyes and pressing “send” on Instagram to make my first post and wished for the best!

Founder  The Accounting Therapist

Can you tell us what type of business you run and how long you've been operating this business?

I own an Accounting Business. I have been in business for a year but I have 5 years of experience which I constantly gain through my daily employer.

Can you share with us some details about how you got started in the Online Business Industry?

I chose to use COVID as an opportunity to move from California to New York while completing my Bachelors degree and moved to a temporary remote position at my “regular” job. Once I obtained a BS in Business with a concentration in Accounting, I had a lot of free-time on my hands. I mapped out my different skills and tried to figure out the things in my every-day life that I enjoyed that I could monetize.

Ultimately, I realized I loved going to work everyday as a Finance Administrator/Manager and that was the main reason I decided to start The Accounting Therapist. I wanted to continue to do something I love without any limitations!

Being an Accounting enthusiast is what got me started, however, what keeps me going is my future and the business success that I will have. I hope to scale largely which will give me the chance to give back to my community through contracting Accounting college students to my client network to give them the necessary work experience they need before graduating college.

If you've had some challenges and roadblocks along the way, Can you share with us what some of those challenges have been in regards to starting or running this business and how you overcame them?

My first challenge was simply getting started. I was worried that nobody was going to support me or that others were going to think my idea (and ultimately passion for something) was stupid. I overcame this by closing my eyes and pressing “send” on Instagram to make my first post and wished for the best!

I also have started surrounding myself around others who work in similar fields and asked them about their experience and things they wish they'd known. This has been a useful method for me because it has helped me start building relationships and exchanging valuable information and resources.

Let's talk about the services you offer, who do you help, and how do you help?

I have committed myself to partner with small businesses owners to efficiently manage their monthly Accounting and Bookkeeping responsibilities by providing clear, valuable, and timely financial information to aid owners make everyday business decisions. This includes, but not limited to:

  • Capture and properly classify all transactions for bank and credit card accounts
  • Reconcile all accounts
  • Enter Paychex payroll into QuickBooks
  • Create customized monthly reporting package to include: Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Statement of Cash Flows, and management reports containing KPIs
  • Monthly Zoom session
  • Integration of apps to streamline accounting workflows
  • Assist in creation of budgets and analyze variances
  • Prepare, file, and send 1099s to contractors at year-end
  • Quarterly budget department review and reforecasting

What's your best advice for those that desire to improve their finances?

Have 3-4 bank accounts minimum and give every dollar a job!! Also, don’t be afraid to reach out to people who are in the financial position you want to be in. Additionally, attend free webinars and coaching calls with a pen and paper in hand to take notes on things that apply to you.

With all that you've accomplished so far, did setting goals contribute to your success so far?

Absolutely! Having a goal helped me get started on the first step.

During our talk you mentioned that you love to help young adults in the Real Estate industry scale and grow their business starting with their books being organized.

Can you elaborate a bit about why you want more young adults to legitimately scale their businesses starting with their finances?

I think it’s important for young adults to be financially adept and have financial education because we are the “new adults”. My generation (Millennials) are responsible for being the role-models to Gen Z and it’s important to make sure we are being good examples and instilling in our siblings, friends, nieces/nephews positive financial habits.

Here at GoalSetters, we like to say " A Goal Without A Plan is Just A Wish", what's your advice on the best way that people can go about accomplishing the goals that they set?

Get started and stay committed!! If you were able to conceive the idea in your mind of a goal then you are able to achieve it. At first, don’t worry about the specifics because as you go along you will gain the tools you need to succeed.

In closing, for those that may require your services or may need mentorship, how can they connect with you?
