Grow a pair…. This life is not for everyone. Every success is a pat on the back and every failure is your fault. Best advice I could give is to not have a plan B. I used to have a CDL(Commercial drivers license). I kept that for the first 3 years of the biz (in case it didn’t work). They came up for renewal and I tore it up and threw it in the trash. I woke up the next morning with a fire like I’ve never had before. Plan B was holding me back. Getting rid of it freed me.

In the pursuit of dreams, life can sometimes deliver hard blows, leaving us battered and bruised. But for Shane Gentry, adversity became the catalyst that transformed his life and gave birth to Sally Said So Professional Dog Training. This is a story of resilience, passion, and a dogged determination that propelled Shane from the depths of despair to a life filled with purpose and success.

In 2009, Shane's life took an unexpected turn when he suffered a debilitating injury that cost him everything—his car, his home, and even his relationship. It was a country song of loss and despair. But instead of succumbing to self-pity, Shane saw an opportunity in the darkness, a chance to rise from the ashes and create something extraordinary.

He braved homelessness, living in his car, and enduring freezing nights without heat, AC, or basic amenities. The lowest point came when he had to scavenge for sticks in the yard to cook a meager dinner of oodles of noodles for his children. But it was precisely during these darkest hours that Shane's resilience and indomitable spirit were forged.

With unwavering determination, Shane built Sally Said So Professional Dog Training, offering in-home dog training and behavior modification services across The Crystal Coast, Triangle, Triad, and Charlotte. His team of 15 full-time trainers is making a significant impact, helping humans understand their dogs better. By empowering owners with knowledge and skills, Shane keeps more dogs in loving homes, away from shelters and rescues. Indeed, educated humans make great dogs.

The journey to success wasn't without its challenges, but Shane's tenacity saw him hit every goal he set. He now lives a life beyond his wildest dreams, with a beautiful home by the water in Beaufort and a loving family by his side. Financial stability is now a reality, and he travels to places he once thought were only accessible through a television screen.

Shane's accomplishments also extend to the industry, where he recently became the Industry Council President for the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association. His role on the board of directors allows him to influence positive change within and beyond the world of dog training.

For Shane, goal-setting proved instrumental in achieving the life he envisioned. He had big goals and smaller milestones along the way that kept him motivated on the path to success. He attests that having no Plan B and going all-in is the key to greatness.
