Seeing my parents migrate to this country and having to work twice as hard to make ends shows me that companies are not as loyal as they say they are. You are just a number to the corporation and if something were to happen to you they will have your job posted in a heartbeat.

Genesis Amaris Kemp

Can you tell us what type of business you run and how long you've been operating this business?

I am a Visionary Lifecoach and I help others overcome their mindset issues / limitations, so they can tap into their highest potential and fulfill their purpose.

I have been in business since February 2021 - launch this after being laid off from my Fortune 500 job after 7.5 years due to the pandemic.

I am also a Podcast Host and have hosted podcasts of CEOs as well as my own. Been doing this since 2020.

Can you share with us some details about how you got started in the Business Coaching Industry?

I got started in Business Coaching as a necessity. I fell into it when I was approached by someone who had been following me and wanted me to help her learn more about DEI and how she can make changes in Higher Education.

I was doing it before but just wasn’t charging for it now I see the value and know my worth.

If you've had some challenges and roadblocks along the way, Can you share with us how mindset coaching has helped you in starting or running this business and how you were able to overcome those challenges?

In 2020, my dad got sick and ended up passing away and when I told my immediate supervisor that I would like to continue working remotely versus coming in the office she mentioned “I just don’t understand why you can’t hire a nurse to help with your dad”. That comment showed me a lack of compassion and empathy and that they did not really care about work/home life balanced like they preached.

Then finding out my CL classification level was substantially lower than my peers yet I was doing the same work and meeting all my KPIs spoke to me as well. It made me realize that I was the so-called “token” since I was the only minority on my team.

It wasn’t until after I spoke up in the VP of Supply Chain’s meeting that things started to shift in my favor with a pay increase of $20K and bump in my CL from a 15 to 22 and then only to be laid off.

You mentioned how the examples of both your parents fueled your desire to be an Entrepreneur. Can you expound on this?

Seeing my parents migrate to this country and having to work twice as hard to make ends shows me that companies are not as loyal as they say they are. You are just a number to the corporation and if something were to happen to you they will have your job posted in a heartbeat.

I no longer wanted to trade my time for money nor did I want to continue building someone else’s empire and legacy while my dreams fell by the wayside.

Being an entrepreneur is not easy but it is rewarding when you find your groove, see the impact you are making etc.

How have you been able to remain focused on your business after the death of your Father?

  • I think about all the fond memories I build with my dad and hold on to that to help me get going each day
  • I think about the legacy I will leave and impact I am creating to help others
  • I reverse engineer what I want others to say about me when the Lord calls me home and I strive to create imprints that drive impacts for me to be that world changer
  • My spiritual grounding keeps me going too

Let's talk about the services you offer, who do you help, and how do you help?

  • Visionary Life Coaching
  • Podcast Hosting - I have hosted several CEOs podcast such as Caitlin Stremple with Rising Ranks Digital, Beyond Success Leaders Spotlight with Daniel Mangena aka Dream with Dan, Texas Businesses on the Rise with Tatiana Chamorro
  • Author - I have two books on the market Chocolate Drop in Corporate America: From The Pit to The Palace and two others i co-authored with a third on the way

I help men and women - I free them from FEAR, Limiting Beliefs, and Scarcity mindset to unlock the keys to their destiny.

I do this by coaching them

What makes your services Unique?

My services are unique because I am bringing all the background knowledge and experience I acquired from life experiences, professional settings, and educational background to the forefront.

There is only one me and the way I convey my messaging is unique because I am not trying to walk in the shoes of anyone else but in my own shoes and embrace all the things i have been gifted with.

There are lots of entrepreneurs that love to receive reviews from clients. Can you tell us which type of reviews you value most and how you use them in your business?

  • I like to see transparent reviews that pertain to either my coaching services and/or podcast
  • I use these in my business as testimonials so others can see how my work speaks for itself

In our talk you mentioned that you’re a multi-faceted entrepreneur.

Can you expound on how having a mentor has proved beneficial for you and your businesses? Have you noticed any pitfalls that you were able to avoid because of their help?

Having mentors and now my own coach has been extremely beneficial because I have accountability partners, I am able to learn from others who have been where I am and surpassed it, I am broadening my areas of expertise and scope. I never want to be the smartest one in my circle because that does not allow me to stretch and i am all about personal and professional growth

Yes, In my messaging I have been able to avoid certain pitfalls by not coming off as too direct or salesy. Learned how to craft certain content to attract my ideal avatar and so forth

With all that you've accomplished so far, did setting goals contribute to your success so far?

Most definitely - setting goals kept me accountable and putting a date next to it helped me ensure that they aren’t just a wish but something that will become reality because I have a specific date to acquire my goal by

Here at GoalSetters, we like to say " A Goal Without A Plan is Just A Wish", what's your advice on the best way that people can go about accomplishing the goals that they set?

Write the vision and make it plain. Get an accountability partner, hire a coach to help challenge you beyond your comfort zone and see things you would not have ordinarily thought about, put that goal in your calendar and put a specific achievement by date. So you know what you are working towards.

Then when you create that goal create a sticky note and put it in a place that is visible on a daily basis so it is a constant reminder of what you need to achieve

In closing, for those that may require your services or may need mentorship, how can they connect with you?
