The good thing is that throughout the years, I have met so many wonderful people from all walks of life and have maintained those relationships.  So reaching out to them for guidance and referrals was key.

Founder  Gipson Financial Group

Can you tell us what type of business you run and how long you've been operating this business?

I run a well rounded financial services company.  We offer financial education/literacy, coaching, and planning, business formation services, credit services, retirement and end of life planning.

Can you share with us some details about how you got started in the Financial Services Industry?

About 2 years ago, I got started for personal knowledge.  I am an multi-preneur and when one of my businesses was forced to shut down, my personal finances got affected and I had to start making things right again.  I realized that there was so much college did not teach me and I did not know and I knew that there were others like me out in the world and that our children would also be lacking in this knowledge.  That is when I decided to be an instrument to bridge that gap.  And have actually been in business for 2 months now.

If you've had some challenges and roadblocks along the way, Can you share with us what some of those challenges have been in regards to starting or running this business and how you overcame them?

Sure.  The first challenge was aligning myself with companies that shared my vision and mission to ensure that my clients were receiving the best.  Doing the research was a challenge in itself.  The good thing is that throughout the years, I have met so many wonderful people from all walks of life and have maintained those relationships.  So reaching out to them for guidance and referrals was key.  The challenge I am currently facing is getting my name out there to increase visibility and clientele.  It is a challenge as I am a big proponent of organically meeting people and building relationships and trust which takes time.

Let's talk about the services you offer, who do you help, and how do you help?

My mission is to help black and brown families get financially whole.  This means that it’s not just learning about finances, but also changing the relationship we have with money.  It is a mental, emotional, and educational process.  We have to change our BS (belief system) with money that we have been conditioned to have from generations before us.  This is why the process takes time.  Yes, there are actionable items one can start implementing immediately to see positive change, but the relationship with money takes time to morph into what we need it to be in order to make the hard decisions and take action.  With this said, it is important to educate the adults so that they can pass on the proper knowledge and behaviors to their children.  But we must also educate our young.  And that is where my passion lies.

In our talk you said “Educating newlyweds can help them have a lasting marriage.”

Can you elaborate a bit about your passion for working with newlyweds and where it stems from?

Yes.  I’ve been married for 25+ years and our relationship suffered about money very often in our younger days.  We did what we were taught, which was work to pay bills and if you wanted something nice, learn how to “pay Peter by borrowing from Paul”.  Having the proper knowledge and having a healthy relationship with money, we would have enjoyed our early days much more and would be financially free today.

With all that you've accomplished so far, did setting goals contribute to your success so far?

Absolutely!  Which is why I wrote the book R.E.W.I.R.E.; Six Simple Steps to Achieve Your Goals.  I’m all about simplicity and to the point.  It’s the New Yorker in me.  I hate having to go through the fields to get to the garden unless I want to.  Most often I want the direct path.  And that is how I approached writing the book.  Our attention span is short these days and I wanted my readers to get life-changing actionable steps in less than 30 minutes.

Here at GoalSetters, we like to say " A Goal Without A Plan is Just A Wish", what's your advice on the best way that people can go about accomplishing the goals that they set?

Reflect. Envision. Write It. Include. Review. Execute. (R.E.W.I.R.E.) And while you are executing the plan, be kind and forgiving to yourself.  The journey is a marathon, not a sprint.  As humans we will have days that aren’t so productive or at all.  Don’t beat yourself up.  Live the moment then pick right back up where you left off.

In closing, for those that may require your services or may need mentorship, how can they connect with you?
