Can you tell us what type of business you run and how long you've been operating this business?
I am a mindset coach for real estate investors and have been doing so for the past 2 years. Prior to launching this specific business, I have dedicated my professional life to the field of mental health and have worked as a therapist as well. I am no stranger to mental wellness!
Can you share with us some details about how you got started in the Business Coaching Industry?
I own other businesses, one of which is a real estate investment company and another that coaches other investors on how to invest using creative financing. It is a very difficult niche of real estate and not well known to an average person; as such, it can be very difficult to get deals at all, let alone consistently. As a coach to other investors on the processes and systems involved, it became very clear the investor’s mindset was the predictor of their success. I began working 1:1 with students specifically on their mindset and all of them were able to get their first deal under contract and sold during our time together. I decided to expand my services and begin scaling to reach as many clients as I can.
If you've had some challenges and roadblocks along the way, Can you share with us what some of those challenges have been in regards to starting or running this business and how you overcame them?
Oh boy - I have had challenges. Being a business owner is HARD! It takes a lot of mental toughness and energy even on a good day - forget about when the inevitable roadblocks happen. I had to deal with my own doubt related to whether this business was necessary, whether investors would realize the importance of what I’m offering, and other fears like this.
Fear is the mind killer and the killer of dreams, so being able to manage it effectively and overcome it is a skill that is probably never perfected. I had to get really in touch with my “why” for doing this in the first place so that fear and uncertainty did not overtake my desire to provide value to others. I think about my “why” every single day and have a vision board in my office to remind me of all I’m working for.
Let's talk about the services you offer, who do you help, and how do you help?
Sure! I am working with real estate investors who have realized how hard it is to be successful in that business (95% of them fail!). I offer weekly group coaching calls as well as unlimited access to me and other members on the platform called Slack. I also offer 1:1 coaching with investors who need even greater accountability and support than in a group setting. We work together for 90 days in either level, but being part of the community for longer than 90 days is also possible.
What's your best advice for those that desire to improve their mindset as entrepreneurs?
You have to start - do not put it off. It’s human nature to be afraid of taking steps outside of our comfort zone and to shrink back into our “bubble.” Growth ONLY occurs when we do things we haven’t done before. It’s also human nature to either postpone or neglect investment in ourselves. I’ve worked with countless people who thought focusing on personal growth felt selfish for years before they decided to take the leap - only to wish they had done so sooner! Your mindset is something you will NEVER be able to escape. Entrepreneurs have to work on dedicating time and effort to improving it so they can give themselves the best chance at success.
With all that you've accomplished so far, did setting goals contribute to your success so far?
Absolutely! I am a firm believer in setting goals - SMART goals to be exact. Otherwise it feels like we’re driving around without a destination. If we don’t know what we want to reach - or if we aren’t crystal clear about what we want to achieve - how will we know if we ever get there? Setting small, attainable goals is the fastest way to gain both momentum and self-confidence - two things crucial to entrepreneurs.
Here at GoalSetters, we like to say " A Goal Without A Plan is Just A Wish", what's your advice on the best way that people can go about accomplishing the goals that they set?
I love that phrase and totally agree! I’ve found people are more likely to achieve the goals they set when they use the SMART goal template, have at least one accountability partner they meet with regularly to discuss whether they’ve met their goals for that week or not (trust me - it doesn’t feel good showing up to a call and letting your partner know you didn’t do what you’d say you’d do!), and to complete the most challenging tasks for that day in the morning as much as possible. There’s a concept called decision fatigue that impacts our ability (and desire) to do harder things as the day goes on, so doing the tougher things early is a way to avoid falling into that trap.
